Franklin, on Auckland’s rural southern fringe, is where most of our Auckland-region off-grid work actually happens – lifestyle blocks and rural sections around Pukekohe, Waiuku and the Bombay Hills, far enough from town that a grid connection isn’t automatic or cheap. It’s a different customer to central Auckland: less about cutting a power bill, more about powering a section that doesn’t have a connection at all yet.
The wider Auckland region averages around 2,122 sunshine hours a year, and Franklin’s open rural land generally means fewer shading issues than closer to the city.
